Responsibilities
- Specimen receipt & pre-analytical processing
- Assist with receipt of consignments and shipments, opening of shipments, and quality check of patient information forms.
- Escalate incorrect, missing, or damaged shipment information to senior-level staff.
- Conduct a secondary check of shipping materials to ensure specimens are not left in kit packaging; dispose of or recycle kit shipping supplies correctly.
- Handle receipt of compounds and control material following safety procedures; support after-hours alarms and other job-critical functions as needed.
- Biorepository Storage & Outbound
- Complete the multi-step process to prepare specimens for storage in cold units and place specimens into storage.
- Perform daily use and input of specimen data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS); store specimens within LIMS and maintain specimen integrity, inventory, and audit history.
- Prepare and complete outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance throughout the storage and shipment workflows.
- Respond to email correspondence and support LRMS ticket requests; raise IT tickets for system issues.
- As needed, upload paperwork into LIMS and archive physical paperwork monthly.
- Shared across both areas
- Assist with equipment maintenance, supply inventory functions, and general cleanup of workstations while following safety procedures.
- Perform various administrative duties as required and ensure competency and full understanding of all processes within the role.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints).
- Familiarity with specimen handling, QC processes, and data entry / LIMS systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot IT / system issues and follow SOPs accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and time management in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain workflow under deadlines.
