What We Look For In a PRAXIS Music Tutor
- Advanced Test Mastery: Deep knowledge of Praxis Music Content and Instruction examination covering music theory, music history, aural skills, performance, and music pedagogy.
- Ability to explain part-writing rules, harmonic analysis, historical style periods, and effective music teaching methodologies while preparing music education candidates for state teaching licensure in music.
- Strategic Test-Taking & Problem-Solving: Skilled at teaching music theory analysis, aural skills development, and pedagogical scenario evaluation for Praxis Music examination. Guides students through analyzing chord progressions, identifying intervals and scales by ear, evaluating classroom music scenarios, and applying sequential music learning theories. Emphasizes connecting music content knowledge to effective instructional practices for diverse K-12 music classroom settings.
- Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with Praxis Music examination content and common challenges such as aural skills section demands, breadth of music history knowledge, and applying pedagogical theories to constructed-response questions. Adapts instruction using music theory workbooks, ear training software, and practice examinations to support music education candidates preparing for state teaching licensure in music.
- Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
