About the role

As a practical assistant, your core task is to teach various educational components within the field of cardiorespiratory and internal (exercise) physiology in the bachelor's program. This includes supervising practical sessions and teaching groups in subjects ranging from basic human physiology to applied physiology related to cardiorespiratory and internal pathology.

Additionally, you are responsible for developing and maintaining course materials such as digital learning paths, exam questions, and assignments with the goal of implementing these into the curriculum. You may be appointed for 30% of a full-time position and must be flexible in adjusting your availability according to the teaching schedule.

Team

You will be part of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at UHasselt. This faculty offers a three-year academic bachelor's program and a two-year academic master's program in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, with approximately 760 students. The faculty also provides education in the interuniversity master's program in Occupational Therapy Sciences.

Within the faculty, REVAL ACADEMY organizes interdisciplinary continuing education aimed at professionals in healthcare and rehabilitation. The Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences at UHasselt has a part-time mandate available for a practical assistant in cardiorespiratory and internal physiology to expand its education in this domain.

Requirements

• You hold a master's degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy or (Bio)medical Sciences (or equivalent).
• You are highly motivated to deepen your knowledge in the (patho)physiology of internal organs. Demonstrated knowledge in this domain is an asset.
• Teaching experience is an asset.
• You are highly motivated to contribute to the renewal (new teaching methods such as blended learning) and optimization of existing teaching materials within current course components.
• You possess the necessary didactic skills to clearly and well-structuredly present your viewpoints. In short, you can dynamically engage an audience.
• You have an interest in scientific research results for implementation in education.
• You are willing to regularly attend further training and continuously develop teaching content using a scientific approach.
• You handle changing priorities and a varied task package and workload throughout the academic year flexibly.
• You actively contribute to a positive work atmosphere by creating connections between different domains and people (practical assistants, doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, professors).
• When taking on a teaching assignment as a coordinating responsible person or co-titular, you must master the teaching language of the course component at CEFR level C1 and Dutch (the administrative language of Hasselt University) at least at CEFR level B2. You have a maximum of 5 years from your appointment to achieve the required level for Dutch as the administrative language. Language courses are available for support.

Benefits

You will be appointed and compensated as a Practical Assistant. We offer you a one-year appointment with a 30% employment rate. Extension is possible upon positive evaluation.
