Purpose
The Senior Practice Research Actuary (Aging and Retirement) drives impactful research initiatives for the SOA Research Institute, delivering valuable insights to members, stakeholders, and the public while supporting practice communities.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, engage, and maintain effective relationships with volunteer actuaries supporting research initiatives, professional development, and other SOA activities.
- Foster collaboration among researchers, contractors, staff, and volunteers to support research and continuing professional development programs.
- Manage research projects and committees from ideation through completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Present research findings at SOA and industry events, moderate webcasts, and support marketing, communications, and stakeholder engagement efforts.
- Support and continuously improve the SOA Research Institute’s research processes, project tracking, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee research communications and publication processes, including report development, review, and dissemination.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, accounting, economics or a related field
- FSA preferred, or ASA with 10 or more years in actuarial practice related to supported practice areas
- Strong project management and ability to lead teams of peers
- Demonstrate strong ability to be the lead spokesperson for the SOA in the assigned strategic research program

Pay
Pay Range: $160,000–$210,000, with compensation based on the selected position level and candidate experience.
Schedule
Hybrid position based in the Chicago/O’Hare Area office, with preference given to candidates within 100 miles of the office. Highly qualified remote candidates will also be considered.
