About the role

The Practice Manager III is responsible for the management of three physician practice locations and/or practices with a combined 10+ providers. This role manages all functions of the assigned physician practices operated by UNC Health Care, including organization and planning of services. The Practice Manager III coordinates day-to-day activities, provides leadership, sets goals, and ensures quality, performance, and production standards are maintained. This position implements comprehensive programs to ensure efficient and financially responsible delivery of quality healthcare in the physician office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and direction for administrative and clinical employees.
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work assignments to ensure adequate and efficient staffing.
  • Interviews, hires, orients, and trains employees; evaluates employee performance; rewards and disciplines employees.
  • Provides budgetary planning, implementation, monitoring, and tracking of financial data; delivers financial reports monthly and as needed.
  • Establishes clear, open communications and builds positive relationships with patients, physicians, staff, directors, and peers.
  • Develops and implements efficient and effective systems and processes; analyzes clinic functions to ensure patient service and financial viability are the primary focus.
  • Proactively develops systems and processes anticipating patient/internal/external customer needs.
  • Ensures appropriate ordering, receiving, and utilization of all supplies and medications.
  • Identifies staff educational needs; responsible for staff education and compliance with all safety procedures, including conducting emergency drills periodically.
  • Develops, implements, administers, and maintains policies and procedures consistent with the practice and the organization; monitors and addresses compliance policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates, leads, and participates in performance improvement activities for the practice.
  • Ensures adherence/compliance with standards such as OSHA, JCAHO, infection control, and safety and security protocols.
  • Evaluates and reports on patient and staff satisfaction, implementing programs/measures for maintenance and improvement; addresses comments/complaints in a timely and effective manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Five years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a physician office or outpatient setting.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

Alternate qualifications:

  • If an Associate’s degree: At least nine years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an outpatient/medical office setting, with two years of supervisory experience.
  • If a high school diploma or GED: At least thirteen years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a physician office or outpatient setting, with two years of supervisory experience.

Skills

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, employees, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Strong spreadsheet skills preferred.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Pay

$33.37 - $47.97 per hour (Hiring Range)
