Practice Leader, Land Development
About the Role
Kimley-Horn is seeking a motivated Practice Builder to join our Development Services team in our Tyler office. This entrepreneurial role involves creating a vision for growth within the Development Services practice while managing projects, clients, and a team. The successful candidate will lead business development efforts, manage key client relationships, and mentor younger staff with a high degree of autonomy. Responsibilities
- Lead a Land Development team while building and managing relationships with key clients.
- Operate with integrity and sound business principles.
- Provide practice vision, business planning, and strategy, including establishing goals and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Maintain open communication with partners and team members while growing and directing a Land Development practice.
- Manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, mentor and grow staff, assist in recruiting, and serve as a positive role model.
- Meet or exceed client expectations and identify/track leads.
- Make presentations, write proposals, and define scopes of work.
- Establish budgets, ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables, and supervise execution of work.
Accounting, administrative, marketing, recruiting, IT, and production support will be provided. With success, this individual will benefit from an impressive bonus program and potential advancement to ownership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Extensive client contacts and relationships with local or national architects, developers, land use attorneys, planners, land owners, and local jurisdictional staff.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with at least 10 years of experience growing and leading a residential land development practice in the Tyler regional market.
- Business development and marketing experience, including writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgeting for projected work.
- Ability to communicate positively at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage and mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to manage land development projects profitably.
