About the role

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm known for its progressive legal, business, regulatory, and government relations advice to clients across various regions and internationally. We are seeking an experienced Practice Assistant in our Tampa, FL office to support three or more Shareholder-level attorneys in the Litigation Section. This role offers hybrid schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve the highest level of administrative support for three or more Shareholder-level attorneys.
  • Maximize attorney time by managing schedules, calendaring, tracking deadlines, setting depositions and hearings, coordinating travel arrangements, and preparing and submitting expense reports.
  • Ensure accuracy in the formatting, drafting, proofing, and editing of time-sensitive and confidential documentation.
  • Contribute to client support by running conflicts checks, preparing engagement letters, opening new client matters, maintaining paper and electronic files, and preparing and submitting filings for federal and state courts.
  • Grow your skills as a legal support professional by managing projects and deadlines, collaborating with team members, and using your organization and time management skills to satisfy client needs and lead the Firm to success!

Requirements

  • The drive and determination to learn new skills and perfect current skillset in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • The ability to own individual tasks as well as collaborate well in a team environment.
  • A high attention to detail and strong time management skills to produce quality work product while keeping yourself and team members on task to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and professional conduct with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
  • Appellate experience is a plus.
  • Experience with electronic filing in both state and federal court, required.
  • Knowledge of appellate and trial deadlines.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a Litigation group.

Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
