About the role

Northeast Delta Human Services Authority seeks a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the R.I.S.E. team serving pregnant women in recovery from substance use disorders and their dependent children. This position offers the opportunity to provide quality nursing care, support maternal and child health, and contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment.

Job Duties

• Reviews and prepares charts for medication management with necessary paperwork.
• Provides direct nursing care to patients undergoing detoxification, residential treatment, and recovery services.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
• Maintains accurate and timely medical records and documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Maintains appropriate licensing and certifications, providing yearly verification.
• Observes patients for signs of medical or psychiatric emergencies and promptly reports changes in condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned to assure the smooth operation of the organization.
• Adheres to all LDH, NEDHSA, Civil Service, and professional standards, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in in-service training for staff and completes required training.
• Participates in behavioral health outreach initiatives.
• Conducts AIMS assessments, provides crisis intervention, med education, monitoring, administration (if needed), and med management for adults with mental illness.
• Initiates treatment plans and schedules reassessments for med track clients, schedules initial and follow-up med management appointments for all clients, and adheres to UM guidelines.
• Contact local pharmacies for clients, initiates and completes prior authorizations, diagnosis codes, and overrides for medications.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state plus two years of experience as a licensed practical nurse.

Benefits

NEDHSA is a designated approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. Clinicians who work at NHSC-approved sites are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program to pay off student loans. 2-year Full-Time Clinical Practice: NHSC will pay up to $50,000* for an initial 2 years of full-time clinical practice to clinicians. (Full-time clinical practice is defined as no less than 40 hours per week, for a minimum of 45 weeks per year.)
