About the role
The Cape Girardeau Health Care Center (HCC) - Cape Girardeau - MO - is currently accepting applications for a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) vacancy in our Primary Care Clinic. The HCC provides a variety of services including Primary Care - Ambulatory - Specialty Care - Mental Health - Telehealth and Community Health/Home Care.
Responsibilities
- Work patients up for clinic provider
- Complete medication refills/renewals
- Complete forms (disability - handicap placards - etc.)
- Injections
- Absorb and assist with scanning and secure messages
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to provide a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral health problems under limited supervision
- Serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact with patients, family members, and professional supportive personnel who provide patient care with members of other services
- Perform duties within the scope of the LPN license, including medication administration
- Recognize and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications (oral - topical - subcutaneous - intramuscular and/or intravenous) and observe for physical and/or emotional changes in patient's condition from prescribed medications/treatments
- Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
- Full - active - current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State - Territory or Commonwealth (i.e. - Puerto Rico) of the United States - or District of Columbia
- Profound proficiency in both spoken and written English
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Qualifications
- Completion of at least 1 year of qualifying experience at the GS-4 level or equivalent
- Completion of at least one (1) year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent
Skills
- Knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems
- Knowledge and ability to appropriately carry out assigned patient care based on the patients' conditions
- Knowledge and ability to recognize and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care, and patient/family education
- Knowledge and ability to recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed
