About the role
The Power Transmission Line Engineer is responsible for creating technical specifications, calculations, and drawings in support of power line projects. This position requires a strong background in power system design for AC and DC lines, with a focus on high voltage and extra high voltage systems. Renewable energy experience is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design underground and overhead distribution and transmission lines
- Support owners engineers and development for renewable and other infrastructure projects
- Work on and off shore wind projects, solar projects, and power line studies
- Review and verify that Design Reviews have been performed and issues raised are addressed
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and client and company standards
- Monitor discipline-specific products to ensure timely completion and adherence to budget
- Prepare detailed technical reports, calculations, and sketches
- Collaborate with Engineering Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Supervisors to design project products
- Ensure quality and compliance of deliverables
- Identify, analyze, and resolve technical problems
- Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor personal work activities
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry experience
- P.E. License preferred but not required, passing score on the EIT exam preferred
- Desired College Degree: BS Electrical Engineering preferred; Other Engineering disciplines considered
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Background in power system design for electrical AC and DC lines
- Experience with high voltage and extra high voltage systems
- Renewables experience strongly desired
- Experience with technical applications such as CDEGS, PLS CADD, CymCAPP, ETAP, AutoCAD, Bentley
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office Suite
