Duties
- Design projects working directly with clients to develop project scope, identify problems, and propose solutions
- Protection and Control drawings and documentations (relay one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, I/O lists, and relay settings, configuration files and etc)
- Panel construction specifications (panel and interconnect wiring as well as panel layouts and elevations)
- Other supporting documentation
- Evaluate the interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects of protective relays, RTU's, LTC Controllers, and other equipment
- Perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, relay setting coordination
- Aid in commissioning as needed pertaining to system startups and functional checks
Requirements
- A BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 5 or more years of experience in protection and control system design, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation for electrical transmission and distribution substations projects
- A PE license from a US State is desired but not required
- Successful track record designing Protection and Control Systems and performing power system studies
- Knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards are used in designing substation is critical
- Experience with telecommunications, protective relaying, and automation (SCADA) is required
- Interest in low voltage coordination and arc flash studies
- Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering, General Electric and Basler equipment
Qualifications
Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000 per year
