Want an opportunity to be part of and support the data center ramp-ups popping up throughout the US? This role focuses on the design and analysis of low and medium voltage power distribution systems for a variety of facilities and projects. You'll apply your electrical engineering expertise to develop safe, reliable, and code-compliant designs while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position is primarily office-based with limited site visits (typically about one week onsite every two to three months) and works under the guidance of discipline group professional engineers (DG PEs).
Responsibilities
- Power distribution design: Design low and medium voltage power distribution systems (switchboards, MCCs, transformers, generators, UPSs, substation layouts) in compliance with local codes and utility standards.
- System studies & analysis: Perform load calculations, arc flash assessments, protective relay schemes, grounding designs, generator sizing, and duct bank/thermal modeling to ensure safe, reliable performance.
- Documentation & drawings: Create three-line drawings, select cables, and review design specifications and drawings for accuracy, completeness, and code adherence.
- Cross-team coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and civil/site designers on new construction and renovation projects to deliver fully integrated solutions.
- Site & quality oversight: Observe and document site installation and testing activities, review cost estimates, and verify compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
- Project & client management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prepare and present progress reports, and build strong relationships with internal teams and clients.
Skills
- 3+ years designing low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
- Strong electrical design experience in power systems.
- Experience with power system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or similar).
