About the role

The Power System Engineer will support the reliability, safety, and modernization of Avangrid's electric transmission and distribution networks. This role requires expertise in distribution planning, transmission planning, interconnection, power system modeling, project management, asset management, grid operations support, protection & control, design & engineering, and grid infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain power system models for analysis and planning purposes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Conduct studies and analyses to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Manage projects related to power system upgrades and new infrastructure installations
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field personnel
  • Participate in meetings and workshops to discuss project progress and address concerns
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments through research and professional development activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience for Associate Engineer, 5+ years for Senior Engineer, 7+ years for Lead Engineer, and 10+ years for Principal Engineer
  • Advanced degrees or certifications preferred for higher-level positions

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools
