Power Supply Analyst

There is one position available, and this position will be filled at one of four job grade levels based on qualifications, experience, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide contract administration support for existing renewable, storage, and conventional resource power purchase agreements and related contracts to ensure contractual compliance, including:
  • Development and ongoing maintenance of written operating procedures
  • Evaluating and interpreting contract terms to optimize Tri-State benefits from existing or amended terms and conditions
  • Monitoring ongoing contractual milestones and timelines for compliance
• Provide contractual analysis of power supplies as needed for inputs to settlements, contract obligations, and/or program analytics.
• Administer and execute contracts initiated by Tri-State Utility Member Systems to implement Tri-State Board Policy Nos. 115 and 117.
• Provide periodic analytical support for external and internal reporting requirements related to power supply compliance and wholesale power markets data compliance.
• Support periodic data and analytical inputs to the development of Tri-State’s Electric Resource Plan and Bring Your Own Resource program, as needed.
• Participate in ad hoc Energy Management department analytical requests.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and presentations related to Energy Management department initiatives and activities.
• Develop and/or maintain documentation of department processes and procedures for power supply contracts administration.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable performance of essential functions is required due to continuous service obligations to customers.
• Ability to work overtime at any time of the day or week is considered an essential function of the job.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, pre-Law, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline; or equivalent relevant experience.
• Eight (8) or more years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of utility or energy-related operations, financial analysis, contract interpretation, and contract administration.
• Familiarity with issues facing utilities including resource diversification, transmission, resource operating characteristics, and wholesale power market operations.
• Ability to interpret policies, wholesale electric market protocols, and regulatory requirements as they relate to resources.
• Familiarity with electric supply contracts or other related contractual structures, language, and provisions.
• Strong analytical and quantitative analysis skills.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective business partnerships and support a collegial work environment.
• Ability to research and analyze complex, technical data and prepare concise, accurate information summaries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications, particularly MS Office, Word, and Excel; MS Teams and SharePoint experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel infrequently (must possess a valid driver’s license).
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform all essential functions of the position.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in the electric power industry with knowledge of contract administration.
• Understanding of contract language analysis and compliance for power supply transactions.

• Senior Power Supply Analyst (Job Grade 10): $109,000–$139,000
• Power Supply Analyst III (Job Grade 9): $98,000–$124,000
• Power Supply Analyst II (Job Grade 8): $88,000–$111,000
• Power Supply Analyst I (Job Grade 7): $80,000–$99,000
