Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute electrical and automation engineering projects supporting capital improvements, equipment upgrades, and reliable plant operations.
  • Lead electrical capital projects from concept through commissioning, including scope development, engineering design, cost estimation, installation, and start-up.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and power-related issues to improve safety, reliability, and uptime.
  • Maintain and schedule preventive and predictive maintenance for medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment and spares, including transformers, circuit breakers (gas, oil, and dry-type), insulators, overhead service wiring, poles, towers, and related power distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams to develop safe, practical, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Coordinate work with engineering consultants, equipment suppliers, and contractors.
  • Support planning and execution of major electrical shutdowns.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and technical documentation.
  • Develop purchase requisitions, work orders, technical reports, and project updates.
  • Clock in to other Cleveland-Cliffs facilities to evaluate electrical technologies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Provide on-call or off-shift support as required and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of medium to high-voltage electrical equipment and utility interfaces.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multi-project management skills.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial environments while wearing required PPE.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in steelmaking or metals manufacturing.
  • Project management experience, including scheduling and cost control.
  • Experience with capital projects, major shutdowns, and equipment start-ups.
  • Proficiency with PC-based engineering and project management tools.
  • Experience coordinating power changeovers between utility companies and internal plant electrical systems.
  • Flexibility to provide off-shift or on-call support.
  • Arc Flash certified/trained.
  • CPR Certified or ability to obtain certification.
