Power Protection & Automation Technician Internship Program (August 2026)

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in assembling and wiring industrial control panels for electrical substations.
  • Learn and apply wire cutting, crimping, and routing best practices using Siemens standards.
  • Support panel testing and verification, including electrical safety checks, continuity testing, and documentation.
  • Gain exposure to fiber optic and Ethernet testing used in modern protection and automation systems.
  • Participate in real-world Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) with customers and Siemens engineers.
  • Collaborate with experienced technicians and engineers to learn how protection relays and automation devices integrate into substation applications.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or related program (Associate level).
  • In your final year or approaching graduation (eligible to work full-time during the summer, and at least 30 hours/week during the semester).
  • Interested in learning how power systems, protection relays, and automation panels work together.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to safety.
  • Proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Must be able to lift parts or sub-assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs. occasionally.

Pay

The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 per hour for first time Interns or $20.50 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
