About the Role

HDR is seeking a Power Program Manager to lead the planning and execution of programs and projects for our power clients. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded, team-oriented individual with excellent communication skills who can deliver and execute infrastructure projects. In this role, you will lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team of technical and non-technical professionals to deliver power infrastructure projects while serving as a trusted advisor to client leadership teams. Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver transmission and distribution (T&D), power generation, renewable energy, and other projects to achieve strategic client outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding scope, contract management, program performance, work planning, and staffing.
  • Advise clients on technical, regulatory, strategic planning, delivery strategies, and financial aspects of power programs.
  • Direct and manage program teams comprised of HDR staff and subconsultants, including engineering, project controls, routing and siting, environmental, real estate, strategic communication, and data management.
  • Assess staffing needs and secure resources to deliver services specified in the contract scope, ensuring contract compliance.
  • Promote team alignment on program mission, monitor team performance, and establish a robust QA/QC program to meet client expectations.
  • Facilitate risk workshops with clients and subcontractors, working with internal risk professionals to develop qualitative and quantitative risk management plans.
  • Develop and implement program management plans, business processes, and tools to drive efficiencies, emphasize accountability, and promote transparency.
  • Work closely with the project controls team to monitor scope, schedule, and budget performance against pre-established metrics, adjusting as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly program reports or update dashboards to communicate program health and progress internally and externally.
  • Collaborate with the internal business development team to identify clients with growth prospects.
  • Champion program management pursuits and support proposal development, including project approach, staffing plan, fees, and schedule.
  • Travel approximately 25% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Program management experience consistent with one of the following:
    • A minimum of three (3) years of program management experience in a deputy role to the Program Manager for the delivery of one or more programs, with a cumulative capital value of $200 million or more, or;
    • A minimum of five (5) years of program management experience as a Project Manager or Project Controls Manager for the delivery of one or more programs, each with a capital value of $200 million or more, or;
    • A minimum of ten (10) years of project management experience as a Project Manager directing a multidisciplinary team for the delivery of at least two (2) projects, each with a capital value of $50 million or more.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building a cohesive team culture and managing team members in various locations.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to client executives and large audiences in public settings.
  • Management experience with alternative and collaborative delivery methods, including design-build (DB), progressive design-build (PDB), and/or construction management at-risk (CMAR).
  • Familiarity with tools used to manage large programs, such as PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, and dashboard analytics.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field (preferred).
  • Professional Engineers License and/or PMP Certification (preferred).
  • Experience implementing Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) such as E-Builder, ProCore, Kahua, or Oracle Primavera (preferred).

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $165,200 - $230,725, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
