About The Role
CoreWeave is a rapidly growing technology company delivering purpose-built cloud infrastructure that powers the AI revolution. Our teams span software, hardware, networking, operations, supply chain, security, and sustainability. As CoreWeave scales data center capacity across the U.S. and Europe, reliable and cost-effective power procurement is critical to our success.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end process for executing energy procurement transactions, from market analysis and structuring through contract execution and post-deal management.
- Lead execution of electricity supply agreements, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Virtual PPAs (VPPAs), and other structured energy transactions across U.S. and European markets.
- Develop standardized contracting, approval, and risk review workflows in partnership with Finance and Legal, ensuring clear governance for all energy transactions.
- Execute power procurement strategies that balance cost, risk, reliability, and sustainability for CoreWeave’s data center portfolio.
- Support renewable energy and clean energy transactions that add new capacity to the grid and advance corporate sustainability objectives.
- Design and execute energy hedging strategies (e.g., forwards, structured products) in collaboration with Finance and data center operators to mitigate exposure to price volatility, congestion, and basis risk.
- Analyze load forecasts, market pricing, and regulatory structures to inform transaction timing, tenor, and product structure; monitor market exposure and manage contract positions over time.
- Coordinate closely with data center development, design, and engineering teams to align power delivery timelines with project schedules.
- Lead commercial negotiations with utilities, energy suppliers, renewable developers, and other counterparties to secure favorable terms.
- Manage executed contracts to ensure compliance with commercial terms, regulatory requirements, and internal policies, maintaining detailed documentation and reporting across the energy portfolio.
Who You Are
- Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in energy procurement, power trading, or utility/retail energy markets, ideally with exposure to technology or data center–intensive sectors.
- Deep understanding of U.S. power markets, with meaningful experience in deregulated markets; familiarity with European power markets and regulatory structures.
- Proven track record structuring and negotiating complex energy contracts, including electricity supply agreements, PPAs, VPPAs, tariffs, and long-term utility or developer agreements.
- Strong expertise in energy forecasting, market and basis risk analysis, and financial modeling for energy transactions and hedging strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute hedging strategies to manage exposure to price volatility, congestion, and other market risks.
- Experience engaging and negotiating with utilities, energy suppliers, and developers on transmission, distribution, and interconnection arrangements.
- Highly organized operator with strong process discipline; able to build, document, and continuously improve contracting, approval, and risk review workflows.
- Excellent communicator and collaborator who can translate complex energy and risk concepts for non-technical stakeholders and work effectively with Data Center Operations, Design & Engineering, Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, and Sustainability.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience supporting or leading energy procurement for data centers, hyperscalers, cloud providers, or other large, 24/7 load profiles.
- Experience developing or executing renewable energy strategies (e.g., greenfield PPAs, VPPAs, RECs, guarantees of origin) that add new clean capacity.
- Familiarity with transmission planning, congestion management, and interconnection processes in key U.S. markets; exposure to European grid and policy dynamics.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, high-growth environments where priorities evolve quickly and decisions need to be made with imperfect information.
- Proficiency with energy market analytics tools and advanced Excel/financial modeling; experience with BI or reporting tools is a plus.
