Power Platform Solution Architect
The Global IS Team is on the lookout for a Power Platform Solution Architect to join our Houston or Irvine offices. This role involves designing and guiding end-to-end Power Platform solutions that meet business needs while aligning with enterprise architecture and governance.
About the role
- Design and govern the foundational architecture for Copilot Studio agents and the wider Power Platform estate, including environment strategy, solution lifecycle, Entra ID integration, Purview sensitivity labels, and connector standards.
- Own the technical reference architecture for the Agent Enablement Program (AEP) and translate enterprise governance requirements into platform standards, patterns, and reusable templates.
- Partner with the Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure the agent platform aligns with GHD’s infrastructure, Entra ID, and security controls, including identity, data protection, and network boundaries.
- Guide the safe transition of agents into production and shape operational readiness, incident response, and change management within the standards set through AEP.
- Lead the architectural response to Microsoft platform evolution (Copilot Studio, Agent 365, Dataverse, Power Platform) and advise on licensing, capacity, and entitlement decisions under GHD’s Frontier Firm partnership.
- Contribute architecture input to PowerApps and Power Automate at enterprise scale, including shared components, connector governance, ALM, and Center of Excellence (CoE) tooling.
- Coach Copilot Studio developers, platform administrators, and selected GHD builders on architectural best practices, contributing to capability uplift across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Power Platform architecture (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Dataverse) at enterprise scale, including environment strategy, ALM, and solution design.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, and the emerging Agent 365 ecosystem, including agent lifecycle, governance, and extensibility patterns.
- Hands-on understanding of Entra ID (identity, conditional access, service principals), Microsoft Purview (sensitivity labels, DLP, information protection), and Microsoft Fabric as a grounding data layer for agents.
- Proven ability to translate governance and risk requirements into practical platform standards, guardrails, and reference architectures.
- Experience integrating Power Platform solutions with Azure services, REST APIs, and enterprise data platforms, and guiding pro-code teams on hand-off points.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief senior stakeholders (CIO, CTO) on architectural trade-offs in plain business language.
- Collaborative operating style, with a track record of influencing across peer IS functions and external partners (Microsoft, systems integrators) without direct line authority.
- Pragmatic, delivery-oriented mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, able to sequence architecture work to unblock delivery rather than gold-plate foundations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8 or more years of experience in enterprise solution architecture, with a minimum of 4 years focused on Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrable track record of designing and governing Power Platform environments in a global enterprise (ideally 5,000 plus users), including CoE setup, DLP, and connector governance.
- Hands-on delivery experience with Copilot Studio or earlier Power Virtual Agents, including at least one agent taken to production under enterprise governance.
- Microsoft certifications strongly preferred: PL-600 Power Platform Solution Architect Expert; PL-400 Power Platform Developer or equivalent; SC-401 or AZ-305 are valued.
- Experience working within a regulated or security-conscious enterprise (professional services, engineering, financial services, healthcare, or similar).
