About the role

We are looking for an experienced Power Plant Operator Technician to join the Operations & Maintenance team at a combined cycle power generation facility in San Diego, California. You will report to the Operations and Maintenance Manager / Plant Manager. You will oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time onsite position, requiring regular presence at the plant to support operations, maintenance activities, equipment monitoring, troubleshooting, and emergency response.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, start, and shut down power generation equipment and auxiliary systems.
  • Monitor plant performance using control systems, computers, gauges, meters, and other operating equipment.
  • Record operational data, plant conditions, and equipment status in logs and reports.
  • Adjust operating parameters to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Implement preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance activities.
  • Support system improvements and plant reliability projects.
  • Conduct chemical testing and maintain proper chemistry control of steam, cooling water, and condensate systems.
  • Maintain chemistry records and operational documentation.
  • Identify and recommend plant efficiency, reliability, and safety improvements.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, and other equipment.
  • Safely handle, transfer, and manage bulk chemicals.
  • Maintain plant security and comply with all company procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 years of directly related power plant operations and maintenance experience.
  • Experience operating and maintaining industrial mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of power generation equipment, plant operating procedures, and safety practices.

Pay

The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $45.00/hour to $60.00/hour.
