Power Plant Operator

About the role

Operate compressors, pumps, pulverizers, boilers, turbine generators, switchyard equipment and additional auxiliary equipment to produce electricity, potable water, smelting steam, and high temperature water for consumption in the smelting plant.

Responsibilities

• Control the generation of electricity by operating and maintaining fuel systems such as ash, demineralizer and others.
• Maintain continuous operation of the smelter by ensuring the necessary electrical power is received.
• Perform physically demanding work activities as required.
• Work shifts including weekends as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with 3 years full-time light to heavy industrial or power industry work experience.
• Able to perform physically demanding work activities.
• Able to do shift work including weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience in fuel systems, boilers, turbines, electrostatic, precipitators, condensate systems, feed water systems, high voltage switching, along with monitoring and maintaining the above systems.
• Ability to perform the other essential functions of the position.
