About the Role
A senior-level position responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of a heating plant. This role ensures the proper functioning of boilers and related equipment, contributing to the safety and rehabilitation of individuals within the criminal justice system.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain boilers and related equipment, including feed water pumps, circulating pumps, valves, regulators, steam and water lines.
- Repair or replace steam and water lines, unions, regulators, strainers, steam traps, and related equipment.
- Replace seals and gaskets in a variety of power plant equipment.
- Test and monitor the water treatment system of boilers.
- Maintain and repair electrical and/or electronic components, such as replacing parts in control panels and repairing broken wires.
- Read sketches and diagrams to perform maintenance and repair work.
- Maintain, test, and operate diesel generators for emergency electric power production.
- Make minor adjustments and repairs to electrical generators, steam or water boilers, pumps, refrigeration systems, and related plumbing equipment; assist in major repair work.
- Fire boilers and operate related auxiliary equipment as necessary.
Requirements
- Two or more years of skilled experience relevant or similar to the listed job functions.

Pay
- Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service, up to 20 years.
- Eligible for additional differentials:
- $2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts beginning between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
- $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 per hour maximum security differential for full-time work at a qualifying facility.
- $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential for regular posts within a restrictive housing/segregation unit.
