About the role

The Power Generation Data Center Lead will work with HDR’s national Power, Power Generation and Technology practice leaders to serve existing clients and develop new clients globally. The role involves leading the Power Generation consulting services in support of data center and mission critical projects, collaborating across several internal organizations, and leading a multi-disciplinary team of direct and indirect reports.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with leads representing Power Generation, Power Delivery, Data Centers, Due Diligence, and Industrial services.
  • Provide oversight for the coordination, quality, and timely completion of Power Generation projects or programs in support of data centers.
  • Serve key roles as necessary in projects and pursuits.
  • Cook up the involvement and input of multi-disciplinary teams in support of development of power generation solutions in support of data centers.
  • Support client relationships, marketing, project execution, and collaboration meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed – it is desired that this leader has a specific interest in leading high performing teams and collaborating within the HDR matrix with the goal of supporting our data center response.
  • Present at industry and client events to support HDR brand awareness.

Qualifications

  • You are passionate about the nexus between data centers and supporting infrastructure, with an emphasis on Power Generation Development and Engineering.
  • You enjoy and seek out meaningful client, vendor and colleague relationships and are driven to expand the depth and breadth of how you can partner with them to solve industry and client specific challenges.
  • You have leadership experience and are looking for a leadership position where you can collaborate internally to help drive an exciting time in the data center market.
  • Significant experience with the development, specification, and negotiation of power generation systems for simple cycle, combined cycle, cogeneration, distributed generation, reciprocating engine, combined heat, and power, microgrids and renewable projects, as well as proven ability to plan, schedule and lead complex design and consulting assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or engineering
  • Expertise in power market and nexus between power and technology with rapid deployment requirements
  • Experience supporting large demand customers such as data centers with infrastructure development
  • Preferred experience working with a variety of client types including regulated and non-regulated utilities, independent power producers, municipalities, and other public and private clients
  • Knowledge of the electric power system, market participants, energy contracts and transactions, project finance, and utility-scale and distributed power generation technologies
  • Client development and management skills with a strong ability to maintain a high standard of quality
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Able to travel to in-person meetings with clients

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
