Power Equipment Operator I/II/III- DEHE Construction Field Operations

About the role

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking qualified candidates to implement sanitation facility construction projects in rural Alaska. This position involves hands-on skills in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of gasoline and diesel powered heavy and light equipment including backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and graders.
  • Perform tasks such as trenching, excavating, and general earthwork as necessary to construct projects.
  • Load, off-load, and move materials on-site using power equipment.
  • Maintain routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Avoid and comply with all federal, state, and local ordinances and ANTHC Standards of Conduct.
  • Work with the project superintendent to promote ANTHC Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction mission.
  • Assist with other project tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of various types of power equipment and their operation.
  • Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations related to heavy equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of rural Alaska logistics, conditions, and construction materials.
  • Knowledge of cold weather construction.
  • Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures.
  • Skills in safely operating, maintaining, and repairing power equipment.
  • Skills in interpreting written plans and specifications.
  • Skills in grade setting and grade checking (desirable).
  • Effective communication skills with engineers, other field employees, and community employees/residents.
