Key Responsibilities
- Develop and own Design Validation Plans (DVPs) for new power electronics products.
- Lead DFMEA activities and translate risks into comprehensive validation test plans.
- Establish traceability between product requirements, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Define test methodologies, acceptance criteria, and statistical validation approaches.
- Design and execute qualification testing for power electronics products including:
- Electrical performance testing
- Thermal validation and characterization
- Environmental testing
- Reliability and accelerated life testing
- Safety and dielectric testing
- Communication and controls verification
- Analyze test data, conduct root cause investigations, and document results.
- Generate validation reports for engineering, customers, and regulatory requirements.
Test Lab Management
- Build and manage a product validation laboratory.
- Define equipment, calibration, maintenance, and safety processes.
- Oversee laboratory operations and test scheduling.
- Supervise and mentor test technicians.
- Drive a strong safety culture and laboratory best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with design engineering teams to improve testability and reliability.
- Support compliance and regulatory certification efforts.
- Collaborate with manufacturing on end-of-line testing strategies.
- Work with quality teams to support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics validation, test engineering, reliability engineering, or related areas.
- Experience developing Design Validation Plans (DVPs) and leading DFMEA activities.
- Strong background testing power conversion products such as:
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Inverters
- DC/DC Converters
- Power Supplies
- Industrial Power Electronics
- Experience using power analyzers, oscilloscopes, programmable power sources, electronic loads, thermal cameras, and related laboratory equipment.
- Strong technical writing, documentation, and data analysis skills.
- Experience leading projects and working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- HALT/HASS and accelerated life testing experience.
- Renewable energy, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), or EV charging experience.
- Experience developing automated test systems using LabVIEW, Python, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of SiC MOSFETs, IGBTs, and advanced power semiconductor technologies.
- Reliability engineering certifications (CRE, CQE) or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to ISO 9001, regulated product development, or quality management systems.
