Job Roles And Responsibilities
- Design and test SiC and GaN based power electronic converter topologies
- Develop active rectifiers, isolated DC DC converters, solid-state transformers, and high-speed motor drives
- Design and test digital control algorithms for power electronic converters
- Develop Controller Hardware in the Loop and Power Hardware in the Loop test environments
- Design and test power conversion systems using wide-bandgap semiconductor modules
- Work with systems ranging from approximately 1.2 kV to 10 kV
- Develop high-power converters greater than 5 kW
- Work on modular power converters from approximately 10 kW to 500 kW and scalable multi-megawatt systems
- Design bidirectional AC DC and DC DC converters
- Design galvanically isolated DC DC converters
- Work with medium-voltage grid interface converters
- Support 4160 V and 13.8 kV power conversion applications
- Develop and test power conversion systems using SiC and silicon power devices
- Support MIL standard compliance activities
- Develop CHIL, PHIL, and real-time test setups
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams
- Provide technical input to business development activities
- Develop, review, and execute prototype and production test plans and procedures
- Contribute to patents, whitepapers, technical publications, and conference papers
- Mentor junior engineers
- Support system-level troubleshooting, validation, and testing
Qualifications And Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering field
- Approximately 8 or more years of relevant engineering experience for the senior-level profile
- Demonstrated experience developing higher-power solid-state power conversion systems greater than 5 kW
- Strong understanding of AC and DC power conversion topologies
- Hands-on experience with power electronics hardware design and testing
- Experience with digital control of power electronic converters
- Experience with SiC and/or GaN wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies is strongly preferred
- Experience with medium-voltage or high-voltage power systems is highly desirable
- Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
- Experience with embedded controllers, DSPs, microcontrollers, or FPGAs is preferred
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, Cadence, or KiCAD is preferred
- Experience with PLECS RT Box, Typhoon HIL, OPAL-RT, or comparable HIL platforms is preferred
- Experience designing or selecting magnetics for high-voltage/high-frequency power converters is preferred
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory because of ITAR-related program requirements
