Power Electronics (Charging) - Design Release Engineer

About the role

Responsible for the design and release of Power Electronics components (Converters, Inverters, AC and DC charging devices) for Electrified Vehicle applications.

Responsibilities

• Work with power electronics suppliers to ensure corporate requirements, specifications, and industry best practices for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, and other processes are implemented.
• Create and maintain documentation outlining best practices to support internal continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop product technology roadmaps.
• Apply working technical knowledge in applications engineering and product design/development within an automotive context.
• Utilize DVP&R and DFMEA methodologies.
• Perform power electronics analysis and simulations using relevant tools.
• Interface professionally with key customers, cross-functional teams, and all levels of personnel/management.
• Manage multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• 3 years of engineering experience in high voltage/power electronics components or similar products.
• Demonstrable understanding of power electronics and devices.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering protocols and standards.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly motivated, self-starter with a task-oriented, detail-oriented, and accurate work approach.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Design Release Engineer (DRE) and product launch experience.
• Experience with power electronics/electrical models and simulations.
• Expertise in power electronics specifications.
• Experience with electric motor and powertrain controls.
• Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and fabrication experience.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing.
