About the role
Provides advanced technical leadership for site power distribution systems, overseeing complex maintenance, commissioning, and decommissioning activities to achieve reliability and FM production targets.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert for site electrical power distribution systems, offering advanced guidance on complex maintenance, commissioning, and decommissioning activities to support reliability and production objectives.
- Lead the resolution of high-risk, high-complexity electrical issues, applying engineering judgment and best practices to mitigate operational, safety, and reliability risks while overseeing contractors and line crews.
- Develop, implement, and govern transformer maintenance strategies and long-term asset management plans, owning budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning for power distribution systems.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external stakeholders (APS, County Governments, municipalities, etc.) to align power distribution strategies with production plans and reliability goals while mentoring engineers, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to support capability development and knowledge transfer across the organization.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, procedures, and best practices, providing technical review and oversight for electrical studies, maintenance plans, contractor work scopes, and system modifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards, reinforcing a strong safety culture, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field AND three (3) years power distribution experience OR
- High school diploma / GED AND seven (7) years of combined experience with: electrical power distribution operations, high-voltage or medium-voltage electrical systems, substation, switchgear, or power plant operations, electrical maintenance, testing, or commissioning, power system monitoring, dispatching, or control room operations, or industrial or mining electrical systems support.
- Journeyman level ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials, including blueprints.
- Transformer and high voltage maintenance experience.
- Experience with Process Automation and Delta V systems.
- Prior project management and detailed job planning experience.
- Experience managing and leading capital projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industrial or mining electrical systems support.
- Mine power distribution system experience.
- Liquid (hot) power pole maintenance experience.
- Prior line crew experience.
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $93,000 - $127,500 annually. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
