About the role
We are seeking a Power Delivery Engineer to perform engineering analyses, maintain system models, ensure data integrity, coordinate with Member cooperatives and transmission operators, and contribute to reliable and compliant electric system operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical/power system engineering analyses, requiring advanced knowledge and independent judgment.
- Accurately maintain, update, and validate GSEC generation and Member Cooperative facility representations in SPP and ERCOT load flow, short circuit, and dynamic models, applying engineering judgment to meet applicable regulatory modeling requirements.
- Independently submit data updates to SPP’s MDAG and ERCOT’s SSWG planning models using approved forecasted load inputs, ensuring model changes are documented and submitted per established timelines.
- Carefully coordinate with Member Cooperatives and applicable Transmission Operators to support the establishment of new delivery points in accordance with ERCOT and SPP requirements.
- Prepare technical inputs and supporting documentation for the annual SPP OATT and ERCOT ALDR submittals, coordinating reviews and revisions as needed.
- Participate in various ERCOT and SPP working groups and taskforces.
- Conduct integrity analysis of SCADA data/configuration, coordinating any identified issues with the SCADA Engineer and SCADA Technicians.
- Analyze, validate, and reconcile meter, and MV-90 data to ensure accurate information for operations, billing, and planning purposes.
- Collaborate with Member Cooperatives on ERCOT and SPP under-frequency and manual load shed plans, including the development and maintenance of required compliance documentation.
- Carefully coordinate required contract activities between Member Cooperatives and designated ERCOT Transmission Operators, under direction of Power Delivery Engineering management.
- Independently conduct surveys and gather information from Member Cooperatives for various initiatives; analyze and synthesize results into reports, presentations, and technical recommendations as needed.
- Aid GSEC and its Member Cooperatives with NERC compliance and documentation. Engage outside consultants as needed for various services utilizing GSEC Master Services Agreements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required. Alternative engineering discipline can substitute with a minimum of 2 years work experience related to electric utilities.
- 0-5 years experience required. 3-5 years transmission planning experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Must be able to organize work to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting and working in team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with others inside and outside of the company, including Member Cooperatives and transmission owners.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Products, spreadsheets, databases, modeling, and CAD and network modeling.
- Prominent problem-solving capability.
- Working knowledge of basic electric theory, statistics and analytical processes, and network architecture.
