Power Bi Engineer
About the role
This position is responsible for the full lifecycle engineering, design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise database and server environments. The role provides technical leadership in systems analysis, performance tuning, capacity management, virtualization, security compliance, and disaster recovery while ensuring highly available and scalable solutions that support mission requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Government Lead in daily engineering duties of systems.
- Determine current levels of system and application resource utilization and performance.
- Construct analytical models describing utilization and performance of multiple database platforms and associated systems.
- Analyze system logs and monitor performance to identify and resolve resource deficiencies.
- Support implementation and operation of forward upgrades for network capacity and applications.
- Design and implement systems to analyze and report levels of utilization and performance.
- Oversee storage of logical and physical information data.
- Recommend parameters to regulate production workloads and prevent resource utilization and reporting service-level objective violations.
- Provide capacity planning and capacity management audits.
- Perform database server design, server file structures, design review, process definition, database modeling, database administration, and database performance analysis.
- Design physical and logical database structures and implement data schemas for business requirements.
- Design, test, and document database integration and virtualization solutions.
- Provide and maintain Hyper-V virtual systems integration and server installations on various server hardware platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and application performance issues.
- Design and engineer services for administrators, users, and groups utilizing Windows PowerShell scripting.
- Design application networking ports and protocols.
- Implement Active Directory services, including:
- User and group administration
- Password authentication and access management
- User profile management
- Configuration and security policy implementation
- Implement Directory Services providing authentication to enterprise applications and trusted relationships between users, devices, applications, services, and other resources.
- Develop and maintain identity and access management requirements.
- Perform identity management, credential management, and access management functions.
- Operate and integrate the following technologies:
- Microsoft Access
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle Database Management Systems (DBMS)
- Microsoft and Linux operating systems
Requirements
Required Technical Skills
- Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Server (including Server Update Services), Linux
- Virtualization Technologies: Hyper-V, VMware
- Database Technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database
- Directory & Identity Management: Active Directory (AD), LDAP
- Authentication and Access Management
- Scripting & Development: Windows PowerShell, VB.NET, C#, Java

Desired Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing enterprise-scale database and server infrastructures.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience supporting secure DoD or government IT environments.
- Knowledge of information assurance, cybersecurity controls, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to lead technical projects and provide engineering recommendations to government leadership.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $45.67 - $55.28/hr. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a contract position based in New Orleans, LA, and is fully onsite.
