About the role
As a Power Apps Developer supporting NIWC, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, engineering, and maintaining low-code solutions that enhance efficiency across the command. You will leverage Power Apps, along with broader DoD/DON IT standards, to deliver secure, scalable applications and process automation tools. Your work will directly support mission readiness by improving system interoperability, modernizing workflows, and contributing to enterprise-wide digital transformation efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy Power Apps–based solutions, including new development and modernization of existing tools, to improve automation and operational efficiency across NIWC Atlantic.
- Implement code with strong documentation, adhere to DoD cybersecurity standards, support secure data handling, and review application logic and data structures for vulnerabilities.
- Participate in planning, requirements gathering, sprint ceremonies, design discussions, and code reviews to support efficient development cycles aligned to Agile best practices.
- Create solutions that integrate effectively with enterprise systems, data sources, and low-code platforms, ensuring interoperability and compliance with command IT standards.
- Support database design, data mapping, data interoperability efforts, and troubleshooting/debugging of Power Apps components and related system objects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline. (In lieu of degree, 12 years of relevant experience is acceptable.)
- At least 5 years of experience in software development using low-code or traditional programming technologies.
- Experience translating requirements into functional software, contributing to design reviews, writing unit tests, and supporting secure coding practices.
- U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Skills
- Designing, architecting, and implementing low-code solutions in environments such as Power Apps, Appian, or ServiceNow.
- Gathering requirements, translating them into workflows or process models, and communicating solutions effectively to stakeholders.
- Debugging complex application objects, automating processes, and handling data integrations.
- Proficiency in Power Apps (Canvas and/or Model-Driven apps).
- Standard scripting and programming languages such as Java, SQL, and HTML.
- Low-code/no-code reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Appian End User Reporting, AppEzy).
- Problem solving, technical documentation, and presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Appian certification or Power Platform certifications.
- Prior Navy or DoD-related IT experience.
- Experience with Power Apps, Appian, or ServiceNow in enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting database development and data interoperability programs.
- Active DoD clearance.
Pay
Salary Range: $100,000 - $105,000, dependent on experience.
