About the role
We are looking for a responsible, qualified, and experienced Poultry Specialist II to supervise all aspects of contract farms.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all aspects of contract farms
- Assist other Poultry Specialists as needed
- Demonstrate basic understanding of farm controllers and equipment
- Understand house construction and ventilation requirements
- Apply basic knowledge of production feeding and rearing
- Resolve contract grower conflicts
- Ensure bio-security, strain security, animal welfare, and health & safety
- Assist with placements, vaccinations, and disinfection
- Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor
Requirements
- BS in Poultry Science or related field (preferred)
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to calculate feed, manage and weigh birds, prioritize work schedules, and solve problems relating to growth and performance
- Ability to work flexible hours including some weekends – on call 24 hours a day
- Self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency
- Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Team-oriented
- Current driver’s license
- 5 years of poultry experience preferred
