About the role
As the Pouch Operator you are responsible for operating a pouching machine to convert large press rolls into finished pouches according to customer specifications. You will follow job tickets to ensure correct size, copy position, and other specifications, verify product quality, and perform finishing duties to prepare products for shipping.
Responsibilities
- Review job work instructions/tickets and set up the pouch machine properly for the job, including zipper, gusset, seal areas, and copy position.
- Operate the machine to convert large press rolls into finished pouches for the customer.
- Review pouches for quality and consistency.
- Follow company procedures for verification of product ID numbers and visual inspection with supervisor sign-off.
- Verify Core IDs for finished pouches and place them outside of the boxes after supervisor confirmation.
- Place finished pouches in the correct box, verify box ID, and move the box to the designated area for shipping or stock.
- Communicate with Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and/or Scheduler regarding issues such as over/under runs, pouch quality, or ID number questions.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of machine operation experience; printing-related production experience preferred.
Skills
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Motivated by task accomplishment and comfortable performing routine tasks at a high level.
- Proactive in identifying problems or inconsistencies and escalating them to management.
- Good organizational skills to manage multiple labels daily.
Physical Demands
- Lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, and associated repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
- Warehouse environment where temperatures may be influenced by outside conditions.
Personal Protective Equipment
- Safety glasses are recommended in the production area.
- Safety toe shoes are required in the production area.
