About the role
The Mendell Lab at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join our group. We are a diverse group of scientists investigating RNA biology through various approaches including high-throughput screens, animal modeling, and mechanistic studies.
Responsibilities
- Develop independent research projects based on your interests, expertise, and goals, including the opportunity to establish a research program that will form the basis for your own independent research laboratory upon completion of postdoctoral training.
- Write scientific manuscripts describing research findings.
- Attend national and international meetings to present research findings, learn about the latest advances in the field, and develop a scientific network.
- Apply for fellowships and grants.
- Mentor junior scientists.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in a scientific discipline such as biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, structural biology, developmental biology, or cancer biology.
- Less than two years of prior postdoctoral research experience.
- Resilient and positive approach to scientific research.
- Willingness to fully participate in lab and departmental activities, to positively engage with other team members and promote their success, mentor junior colleagues, and contribute to an inclusive and productive research environment.
- Strong commitment to research integrity.
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).

Pay
- $70,000.00 (minimum) - $80,500.00 (midpoint) - $91,000.00 (maximum)
