About the Lab
The Gao Laboratory studies hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and their niches in development, homeostasis, and disease, with a focus on how the microenvironment regulates HSC function. Research approaches include mouse genetics, lineage tracing, flow cytometry, single-cell genomics, and bioinformatics to uncover mechanisms that can improve HSC-based therapies.
