Additive Manufacturing of Carbide Ceramics with Al/ML Optimization

• Perform additive manufacturing of ceramics and composites with feedback control
• Extend well-established direct-write (robocasting) extrusion-based 3D printing methods
• Incorporate active machine learning and image processing feedback controls
• Improve synthesis and processing of colloidal materials
• Explore new 3D printing methods for different materials (ceramics, composites)
• Perform characterization and properties measurements of the printed parts
• Engage in continuous improvement feedback loop to engineer specific shapes with application-specific property optimization

Qualifications

• Experience in materials science, mechanical engineering and related fields
• Experience in AM system design, electronic control, and programming
• Experience in AM for ceramics
