About the role

A postdoctoral position is available in the Penn State Limb Loss, Difference, and Preservation Rehabilitation Center for Research, Education, and Service (LimbRehabCARES), supported by the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. LimbRehabCARES is a learning health systems (LHS) hub focused on advancing clinical care and outcomes for the limb-loss, difference, and preservation rehabilitation community through our tripartite missions of research, education, and service. Our translational pipeline work is organized within three synergistic cores: Rehabilitation Engineering for rehab technology development, Clinical Outcomes for optimizing clinical feasibility and adoption, and System Science for care systems development and policy translation. The underlying methodology is grounded in LHS principles and diagnosis-specific rehabilitation continuum (DRC)1 models and frameworks such as the Multilevel Limb Loss and Preservation Rehabilitation Continuum (MLPRC)2 and Limb Loss Rehabilitation Continuum (LLRC)3. We are now beginning to extend this methodology to other rehabilitation diagnoses, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke, and develop DRCs for these populations. We seek a motivated researcher from rehabilitation science, implementation science, informatics, or health services research, interested in operationalizing DRCs across patient, provider, organization, community, and health system policy levels.

This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

Why This Center

Joining LimbRehabCARES offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary translational center at a formative stage, with strong first-author publication opportunities, leadership on individual sub-studies, and hands-on grant-writing experience, along with close mentorship from the PI and a cross-disciplinary team spanning implementation science, engineering, and health services research.

Requirements

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
