About the role
The University of Washington Information School (iSchool) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position with the Data Services for Indigenous Scholarship and Sovereignty (DSISS) initiative. The DSISS team supports responsible stewardship of Indigenous research data in libraries and repositories.
Responsibilities
- Develop a collaborative curation approach that centers Indigenous research methods and data sovereignty.
- Create a repository testbed grounded in the values and priorities of scholars of Indigenous culture and language and Indigenous communities.
- Contribute to a new line of inquiry exploring how CARE can be applied to enhance stewardship of established Indigenous digital collections in libraries and archives.
Requirements
- A PhD in Library and Information Science, Information Studies, or a related field.
- Experience with Indigenous research methodologies and data governance.
- Strong research skills and ability to collaborate effectively with Indigenous scholars and data repository professionals.
- Knowledge of Indigenous data sovereignty principles and practices.
Qualifications
- Research experience relevant to Indigenous data governance and digital collections.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in data management and repository systems.
- Experience with Indigenous research methodologies and data governance.
