About the Role
Individuals will work on a series of projects related to the development of separation processes for critical minerals. The position offers a wide range of professional development opportunities through the NHMFL and Florida State University (FSU), including participation in state and federal government-funded frontier science and engineering, mentoring experiences, and the potential for initiating new independent research. The role includes training undergraduate and graduate students.
Responsibilities
- Develop separation processes for critical minerals.
- Participate in the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
- Engage in professional development opportunities at NHMFL and FSU.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, or any other relevant discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in experimental separation processes, ligand chemistry, molecular dynamics simulations, and/or computational fluid dynamics.
- Experience with magnet systems, experimental micro/macro fluidics, and colloidal science.
- Track record of quality publications with excellent writing skills.
- Experience with instrument design and/or automation.
- Interdisciplinary knowledge and skills bridging engineering to soft matter science.
- Outstanding leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Interest in chemical separations (e.g., solvent extraction, ion exchange), physical separations (e.g., magnetophoresis), unit operations, or multiscale modeling.
Schedule
Evaluation of applications will begin immediately, with a start date as early as January 2026. The position is for an initial period of one year, with possible extension to a second and third year.
