Postdoctoral Scholar and Instructor, Bioprocessing
About the role
The Amgen Bioprocessing Center (ABC) at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) seeks to recruit an outstanding candidate to fill an open Post-Doctoral Scholar and Instructor position. The ideal candidate should have an established record of excellence in bioprocessing research with emphasis on biologics and a focus on lab practices for mammalian cell culture, microbial fermentation, downstream processing, and cell line development. Teaching experience is desirable as this role involves teaching as well. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching lectures and lab courses, establish strong collaboration with industry, and enhance the excellence of the academic community through research and teaching.
Responsibilities
- Partner with appropriate faculty to lead teaching classes and lab instructions for courses related to bioprocessing.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Safety Manager to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation and adequate availability of supplies for all lab areas.
- Cookordination and/or supervision of Team Masters' Projects and student independent research projects in the labs.
- Cookordination and/or leadership of industry-sponsored projects in the labs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A PhD in Chemical, Biochemical, Biological, or Biomedical Engineering, or in the Biological, Chemical, or Physical Sciences, or a closely related discipline is required, along with extensive knowledge of biopharmaceutical processing.
Qualifications
- Must possess excellent verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, community officials, campus colleagues and the public.
- Must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and personal integrity.
- Must have basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, all components.
- Able to adapt well to unexpected situations and re-prioritize work according to changing circumstances to meet objectives.
- Able to use technology easily and effectively to enhance productivity and to assess progress toward office goals.
- Able and willing to work weekend and evening hours, as needed.
Skills
- Ability to maintain a good concentration level while dealing with interruptions;
- Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy;
- Capable of giving, receiving, and analyzing information, formulating work plans, and articulating goals and action plans.

Pay
$71,700 - $77,000 annualized.
Schedule
This is a staff, full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt position. The regular hours of this position are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Hours will vary due to the needs of the Institute or department.
