Postdoctoral Researcher - PEM Electrolysis Electrode Development
About the Role
A Postdoctoral Researcher position is available in NLR's Chemistry and Nanoscience Center to work in the area of PEM water electrolysis, specifically in the area of advanced and novel electrode development. This position will focus on novel electrodes that can be used primarily in PEM electrolyzers, but have relevance for other electrochemical energy conversion devices like fuel cells, electrochemical hydrogen compression and/or electrochemical CO2 reduction. The candidate will be expected to contribute to and/or develop novel PEM electrodes and/or the devices employing these novel electrodes.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
- Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.
Additional Required Qualifications
- Experience in synthesis of PEM electrolysis electrodes.
- Characterization of PEM electrolysis electrodes and cell properties with a focus on physical and electrochemical properties.
- An understanding of electrode morphology and impacts of processing and chemical nature on structure, performance and durability of PEM electrolysis electrodes.
- Experience in testing PEM electrolyzers.
- Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of success in addressing fundamental and applied science questions and devising solutions to challenging problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science & engineering.
- Record of publications/presentations in areas related to polymer electrolytes, electrolyzers, and/or fuel cells.
- Candidates should demonstrate considerable skill in interpreting and assessing experimental results.
- Excellent interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills are essential for success at NLR.
Pay
Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week): $76,600 - $126,400.
