Postdoctoral Researcher - Circuit Based Model Systems of Anhedonia (CMA)

About the role

BioMed X is a leading innovation hub for pharma, bridging academia and industry through design thinking and crowdsourcing. The team CMA, led by Dr. Kevin Keary, investigates the mechanisms and circuitry underlying anhedonia—a debilitating symptom of depression and core negative symptom of schizophrenia. The project examines cell and brain region‑specific alterations in rodent and in vitro models of anhedonia to identify biomarkers and future therapeutic targets. The position is based in New Haven, Connecticut, where the postdoctoral researcher will work in a state‑of‑the‑art lab facility, hone existing expertise, and obtain new technical training.

Qualifications

• PhD in Neuroscience or Psychology
• Publication record of first‑author manuscripts
• Robust track record of mentorship experience
• History of independent project management
• Strong written and oral scientific communication skills
• Valid US work authorization required

Skills

Required skills

• Proficiency in computational modeling incorporating rodent model and human data (MatLab, Python, etc.)
• Cell and molecular experimental skills (in‑situ hybridization, western blotting, immunohistochemistry)
• Experience working in a research team and ability to meet deadlines set by the group leader

Additional skills (good to have)

• Experience with rodent behavioral models of anhedonia
• Knowledge of mitochondrial dynamics (fusion/fission, ETC, mitophagy)
• Microscopy (Nikon, Zeiss, Olympus)
• Human neuroimaging analysis (fMRI, PET, MR Spectroscopy)
• Animal husbandry
