About the role

The National Laboratory of the Rockies Biosciences Center seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Physical Biochemistry and Photosynthesis Group. The ideal candidate will conduct research on the electron transfer and biophysical mechanisms of flavin-based electron bifurcating enzymes using spectroscopic, electrochemical, and biochemical methods.

Responsibilities

  • Apply spectroscopic, electrochemical, and biochemical methods to investigate the redox cofactors of flavin-based enzymes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to advance research projects.
  • Prepare manuscripts and reports on research progress.
  • Present findings at national meetings.
  • Mentor junior researchers.
  • Participate in professional development activities.
  • Assist the project PI in planning project directions.

Requirements

  • Recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
  • Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with recombinant protein expression and purification.
  • Experience with biochemical/biophysical investigation of redox active enzymes.
  • Knowledge of flavoenzymes, metalloenzymes, enzyme kinetics, protein-protein or protein-substrate interactions, transient absorption spectroscopy, EPR, and protein electrochemistry.
  • Ability to work safely and independently in a laboratory setting.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry or related discipline within the last 3 years.

Skills

Pay

$76,600 - $126,400 annually

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week
