Arizona State University’s Advanced Capabilities for National Security Institute (ACNSI) and the Center for Human, Artificial Intelligence, and Robot Teaming (CHART) are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scholar. Under the supervision of Dr. Jamie Gorman, the postdoc will receive training, research experience, and opportunities to pursue externally funded research to advance a career in academia, government, or industry. This role contributes to Dr. Gorman’s lab and CHART’s focus on human-machine teaming, dynamical systems-based team measurement, and teaming in complex real-world scenarios (e.g., medical, multidomain, and space operations).
Responsibilities
- Design, carry out, analyze, and report on original research projects related to measurement of team dynamics in human-AI-robot teaming.
- Author and present research products in sponsor meetings, peer-reviewed journals, conferences, books, and workshops.
- Participate in or lead proposal preparation for external research funding (e.g., DARPA, NSF, ARL, AFRL).
- Optional opportunities for teaching courses in Human Systems Engineering (HSE) may be provided.
Requirements
- PhD in psychology, cognitive science, human factors, industrial engineering, nonlinear dynamics, computer science, or a related field.
Qualifications
- PhD in human factors, industrial engineering, or a discipline relating to human-machine teaming/systems engineering.
- Experience with laboratory research; field research experience highly valued.
- Statistical and computational programming experience in R, Matlab, SAS, SPSS, Jscript, and/or Python.
- Research experience and a record of publications and research presentations.
- Research experience related to team cognition, dynamical systems, and/or human-AI-robot teaming is highly valued.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing, presentations, and mentoring.
- Experience in programming machine learning is also highly valued.
