About the role

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an early-career researcher to advance their scientific career while contributing to meaningful work that improves patient outcomes. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will join our team in Houston, Texas, and support a dynamic program of research focused on chronic pain and the biobehavioral and socioeconomic factors that influence pain experiences and outcomes.

You will collaborate on innovative studies exploring pain self-management, pain care disparities, opioid use, and interventions that leverage digital healthcare and integrative medicine approaches, including auricular point acupressure. This position provides a unique environment to develop independent research skills, contribute to high-impact scientific discoveries, and help advance equitable, evidence-based solutions for pain management.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
  • Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
  • Reads and evaluates literature.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral/Terminal Degree.

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas. This position is security-sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094. To the extent the position requires access to critical infrastructure, maintaining its security or integrity is a minimum qualification for employment.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
