Postdoctoral Research Fellow
About the role
The Schuch Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Classics is a one-year appointment (potentially renewable) designed for recently completed PhDs to engage in comprehensive research, teaching, and mentoring in Greek and/or Latin language and literature at all undergraduate levels.
Responsibilities
- Teach three courses each academic year in Greek and/or Latin language and literature at all undergraduate levels.
- Offer lecture courses in classical literature, world mythology, and culture in translation.
- Achieve significant progress on a research project.
- Give a public presentation at the end of the year.
- Participate in the intellectual life of the department and campus.
Requirements
The successful appointee must have received their Ph.D. between July 1, 2022, and June 1, 2026. Demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a strong research agenda and a proven ability to teach effectively at the college level. They should have a clear prospectus detailing planned research for the year of employment.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, and proficiency in both Greek and Latin languages are essential.
