Postdoctoral Research Associate, Electrical Resistivity Tomography and Environmental Geophysics

About the role

The Biosphere 2 Landscape Evolution Observatory (LEO) at the University of Arizona seeks an enthusiastic scientist or engineer to lead development and operation of one of the world's most advanced environmental Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) observatories.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, maintenance, and operation of a state-of-the-art environmental ERT observatory.
• Design and implement research projects utilizing ERT technology to study landscape evolution processes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of scientists and engineers to advance understanding of environmental systems.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
• Secure external funding through grant proposals and partnerships.
• Mentor students and junior researchers in ERT techniques and related research methodologies.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in geophysics, environmental engineering, hydrology, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) or related geophysical methods.
• Experience with field-based environmental research and instrumentation.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
• Proven ability to secure research funding through grants or collaborations.
• Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship.
