About the role

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine invites applications for a federal-funded postdoctoral research associate position. This role will focus on studying Cancer Biology and Stem Cell Biology in the laboratory of Dr. Lu Le, Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate how genetic and microenvironmental factors interplay to regulate tumorigenesis.
  • Identify the cell of origin and elucidate the role of tumor microenvironment in cancer development.
  • Dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis from a developmental perspective using Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1).
  • Identify possible treatments for balding and hair graying associated with aging.

  • Doctoral degree

Qualifications

This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position.

Benefits

Physical Demands

This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
