Oklahoma State University’s Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Aryal Lab) is seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a Ph.D. in a life sciences field.
About the role
The fellow will work on aging and neurodegeneration, focusing on proteomics and mass spectrometry analysis of brain tissues with an emphasis on region- and cell-type specific analyses. The research aims to understand the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease.
The lab investigates the role of biomolecular condensates formed by liquid-liquid phase separation, particularly nuclear bodies in aging and neurodegeneration. The position involves multidisciplinary work combining analytical, biochemical, and biological techniques, with access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine quantitative proteomics and post-translational modification (PTM) workflows.
- Investigate the molecular mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease.
- Engage in collaborative research with academia and industry.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, cell/molecular biology, mass spectrometry, proteomics, or a related discipline.
- Experience in tissue culture, biochemistry, molecular biology, basic immunology methods, proteomics sample preparation, and downstream data analysis using proteomics pipeline software.
Employment Conditions
This is an 11-month, temporary, non-tenure track position with an initial one-year term. Renewal for up to two additional years is possible based on satisfactory performance and available funding.
