Postdoctoral Fellow - McDermott Lab

About the role

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist with interests in molecular mechanisms of RNA processing and their roles in the development of Trypanosomatid pathogens. The project will use a combination of complementary genetic, molecular, cellular, protein structure/function, and informatic methods.

Responsibilities

• Literature review
• Experimental design and performing experiments
• Data analysis
• Preparation of reports and manuscripts

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program
• Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience conducting research in the pediatric arena
• Experience in protocol and manuscript development and in grant writing

Skills

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in cellular and molecular biology, especially with respect to protozoan pathogens, and expertise in basic cell and molecular biological techniques. The ideal candidate will be independent, motivated and hard-working. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the abilities to establish clear goals, organize and prioritize research, work with a diverse and collaborative team, and thrive within a multi-disciplinary environment are critical.

Pay

$80,172/year. Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
